Edward Estlin “E. E.” Cummings or more familiarly: ee cummings was born on October 14, 1894 and was one of the most innovative poets of his time. He wrote almost 3000 poems, two autobiographical novels, four plays, and several essays. He was also a painter, essayist, author, and playwright.
Cummings is associated with modernist free-form poetry. Much of his work has original syntax and uses lower case spellings for poetic expression. His use of lower case extended to rendering even the personal pronoun I as i.
He passed away on September 3, 1962.
